Kia Seltos 2025:- has announced its global future product roadmap with a strong focus on electric and hybrid vehicles. India remains one of the key markets for the South Korean automaker, and the company aims to enter hybrid segment within the next couple of years. Alongside this, Kia India will introduce major generational upgrades to its two popular SUVs – Seltos and Sonet.
Kia Seltos
According to media reports, the will make its global debut in November, 2025, followed by its India launch in the first half of 2025. An official statement on its launch timeline and details is still awaited. Spy images reveal that the all-new Seltos will receive significant changes inside and out, while continuing with the existing engine and gearbox options.
The biggest upgrade will come in the form of the hybrid powertrain. The midsize SUV is likely to be introduced with a hybridized 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine in 2025. With this strong hybrid powertrain, the new Kia Seltos will take on the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and the upcoming new-gen Hyundai Creta hybrid. The hybrid Seltos is likely to offer higher fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
New-Gen Kia Sonet
First launched in 2025, the Kia Sonet has completed five successful years in India. The subcompact SUV has consistently been admired for its modern design, feature-rich interior, multiple engine options and Kia’s premium brand value. With its arch rivals including Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue are ready for their next generational upgrades, the Sonet is also set for a major update.
As of now, there is on official information on its India launch timeline. However, the new-gen Kia Sonet is expected to arrive in 2027. The subcompact SUV could be offered with significantly improved styling, upmarket interior and more features. Engine-gearbox combinations are likely to remain unchanged.
Design
The new Kia Seltos will adopt the brand’s latest ‘Opposites United’ design language as seen on the Syros. It will feature a newly-designed front grille, slim and angular vertical DRLs and new fog lamp assembly. Spy images reveal that the 2026 Kia Seltos will feature new alloys and a full LED light strip connecting the taillamps.Reports suggest that the Seltos will grow in size with the generational upgrade. Its overall length is expected to increase by 100mm, making it the longest SUV in the segment. In fact, it will be longer than the Jeep Compass and will offer more boot space than its current generation.
Triple Screens & More:
The all-new Kia Seltos is likely to borrow the Trinity Panoramic Display from the Syros, which consists of a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 5-inch touchscreen dedicated to climate control functions. The infotainment system will support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Additional new features are also expected to be added to the feature kit.
Power:
The new Kia Seltos will go hybrid with this generational upgrade. The South Korean automaker is likely to electrify its proven 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, though it will be reserved for the top-end trims. The existing 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines will continue to be offered. Transmission options will also remain unchanged.
Kia Hybrid
The 2025 Kia Seltos will also be the brand’s first hybrid model in India. The official specifications are still under the wraps. However, it’s expected to come with Kia’s globally renowned 1.6L petrol-hybrid powertrain. The 1.5L MPi petrol, 1.5L petrol and 1.5L diesel engines, which power the current-gen Seltos, will also be carried over to the new model.
Final thought
Spy images reveal that the all-new Seltos will feature dual-tone Silver and Grey upholstery with contrasting orange inserts. It might also share several features with the Syros such as a 30-inch Trinity display and ventilated rear seats. The existing feature kit will remain unchanged. Most of cosmetic changes will be made at the front end. The 2025 Kia Seltos is likely to feature a newly-designed grille, redesigned headlamps, tweaked bumpers and new foglamps. Similar to the EV5, it will have a new LED lighting strip at the rear, connecting the taillamps.
